BPM Round Table Münster

Description

The Chair for Information Systems and Information Management at the WWU Münster currently comprises 26 postgraduate research assistants and seven post docs as well as 30 undergraduate research assistants. Focus areas of research are Business Process Modeling and Data Modeling. Besides developing and evaluating new modeling methods, the methods are transferred into practice to generate business value for companies and public sector organizations. Focused domains of research comprise Service Science Management and Engineering (SSME), Retail/Wholesale, and E-Government. As the chair is embedded in the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS), the research projects incorporate Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, and legal points of view. Through various funded research projects in cooperation with partners from industry and government, a lively and continuous knowledge exchange as well as the adoption of real life problems is obligatory.

Key persons

Prof. Dr. Jörg Becker is Full Professor and head of the Department of Information Systems at the University of Münster, Germany. He is the Academic Director of the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) and prorector for strategic planning and quality assurance of the University of Münster. Jörg was founding Editor in Chief of the international journal Information Systems and e-Business Management and serves on various editorial boards such as Business Information Systems Engineering. His work is published in renowned journals (e.g. Communications of the AIS, Information Systems Journal, Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems, and Business Process Management Journal) and was presented on international conferences (e.g. ICIS, AMCIS, ECIS). He is also author of several books addressing his research interests, spanning information management, business process management, retail IS, e-Government and strategic IT-management consulting. His research is funded by international funding bodies like the EU as well as nationally by the BMBF (German Ministry for Research and Education) and DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, German Research Foundation). Jörg is honorary professor of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Moscow, Russia. Additionally, he is partner of two university spin-offs acting in the field of BPM consulting for retail and e-Government.

Dr. Daniel Beverungen is an assistant professor at the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) at the University of Muenster, from which he received his PhD in 2010. His main research areas comprise Service Science Management and Engineering (SSME), Business Process Management in Business-to-Business Networks, and Social Network Analysis. Daniel manages and currently works in a number of research projects funded by the German Federal Government, with an emphasis on the high tech investment goods industries. Business Process Management, Modeling, and Analysis are focal areas of these research projects. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal and conference articles, as well as a book on customer solutions. In cooperation with industry representatives, and other researchers, he developed three industry standards with the German Standards Institute. His teaching comprises courses in Service Science, Data Modeling, Application Systems/ERP Systems, Project Management, and Social Network Analysis. Daniel is actively collaborating with various research institutions and universities in Germany, in Europe, and in the Asian-Pacific region.

PD Dr. Patrick Delfmann is an associate professor at the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) at the University of Münster. He holds a Ph. D. and a postdoctoral degree in Information Sys¬tems. Patrick was the coordinator of several research projects, funded by national and international funding organizations, especially on the topics of Conceptual Modeling and Business Process Management. He teaches, amongst others, BPM, Workflow Management and Conceptual Modeling at the University of Münster and has been a visiting professor in Moscow, Vienna, and Biel. His work comprises more than 60 scientific papers, many of which have appeared in high ranked international proceedings and journals. His main research interests are Business Process Management, Conceptual Modeling, Reference Modeling, Model Analysis, Semantic Process Modeling and Business Process Compliance Management.

Dr. Michael Räckers is an assistant professor at the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) at the University of Münster. He holds a Ph. D. in Information Sys¬tems from the University of Münster. Michael was the coordinator of several research projects, funded by national and international funding organizations, especially on the topics of Conceptual Modeling, Domain Specific Business Process Modeling and Semantic Business Process Modeling in the Public Sector Domain. He teaches, among others, Information Modeling, Business Process Management, Project Management and e-Government at the University of Münster and the Universities of Applied Sciences in Nordhausen and Münster. His work comprises more than 50 scientific papers which have appeared in high ranked international proceedings and journals. His main research interests are Semantic Business Process Management, Domain Specific Business Process Management, and Model Analysis.
