Description

The Hilti Chair of Business Process Management is dedicated to studying the design and use of IT as a means to successfully improve, innovate and transform organizations. Both research and teaching focus on BPM and adjacent fields. Current research areas include, for example, Green BPM, people and culture in BPM, value-driven BPM, IT-enabled business process innovation and enterprise content management. We closely collaborate with research partners around the globe and serve our local industry and society.

Key persons

Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke is Hilti Chair in Business Process Management at the University of Liechtenstein, Director of the Institute of Information Systems, Prorector Research and Transfer of the University, and President of the Liechtenstein Chapter of the Association of Information Systems (AIS). Jan has more than then years of experience in IT and BPM projects and has published more than 170 refereed papers in the proceedings of internationally perceived conferences and established IS journals, including MIS Quarterly (MISQ). He serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS) and acts as a guest editor e. g. in the Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS). Jan is author and co-editor of 16 books, including Springer's International Handbook on Business Process Management and the recently published Springer book Green BPM - Towards the Sustainable Enterprise. Jan is a trusted Advisor to a number of organizations, such as the Swiss Research Foundations, the Norwegian Research Foundation, the Austrian Ministry of Commerce, the Liechtenstein Government, and the European Union. Apart from Liechtenstein Jan teaches at a number of internationally renowned universities including Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, the University of Turku in Finland and the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Dr. Oliver Müller is Assistant Professor and Head of Industry Relations at the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein. Oliver's research is in the areas of business process management and creativity/innovation management. His work has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals, presented at major international conferences and awarded with industry-sponsored prizes. Prior to his academic career, Oliver gained industry experience as a professional consultant for supply chain management and as a visiting researcher at SAP Research.

Dr. Stefan Seidel is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein. His main areas of research include creativity and innovation management, green information systems and sustainable development, business process management, and theory building in Information Systems Research. His work has appeared in major international journals and has been presented at major international conferences. Stefan is co-editor of the book 'Green Business Process Management - Towards the Sustainable Enterprise,' a comprehensive resource of state of the art knowledge on green business process management.

Dr. Alexander Simons is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Information Systems from the University of Muenster in Germany. Alexander does research and teaches in the areas of business process management and enterprise content management.

Dr. Theresa Schmiedel is Assistant Professor at the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management at University of Liechtenstein. She holds a PhD in business economics from the University of Liechtenstein and a Diploma in economics from University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany, which she conducted partially at York University, Toronto, Canada. She worked as a Research Assistant at the Department for Sociology and Empirical Social Research, University of Hohenheim, and the Centre for Cultural and General Studies, Universität Karlsruhe, Germany. Her research focuses on the social phenomena in IS research. Her work has been published in Information & Management, Business Process Management Journal, respective books, and academic conferences.
